At the heart of our Community in Brisbane are Jason, Peter, Jenny, Sheena, Anthony and Danny; members of two households situated in Bardon and Morningside.

Walking with them are many people who have said "yes" to the invitation to share life together where God is in our midst.  Through the gatherings and celebration around the daily events of our lives we have grown into a belonging in the heart of each other.

Although we come from many backgrounds and experiences, and bring to the community both our joys and our pain.  We come into a common path to live in a "Spirit of welcome of sharing and simplicity."  By our sharing life with the house at the heart of our community we are transformed with them.

"Our hearts of stone become hearts of love".

Our community is small but strong within our local faith communities and the wider social community of Brisbane.

Members of our community are encouraged and supported to participate in many other groups: work, education, social and faith, where we are witness of Gods presence in our troubled world. Our community is rich in the friendship of all who share its life.  There is always time for a chat and a cup of tea.

Our History

For about 10 years a group of people began praying and working on building a L'Arche community in Brisbane.

L'Arche Brisbane started on 17th March 2003 and in November 2003 they were accepted into the Federation of L'Arche as a probationary member.

Today L'Arche Brisbane has two households; one in Morningside and one in Bardon, supporting 6 core members.
