Can you help Hunter Friends of L'Arche?

A number of options for housing and for the ongoing operational funding of our first home are being investigated, including a variety of fundraising activities. These include:

  • Donations to a Trust fund to provide some financial independence and recurrent operational funding essential to guarantee ongoing operation and maintenance of our home(s) and
  • Donations to our 100 Club involving an annual contribution of $1000 (or a convenient amount) to assist in the day to day operation of the household and community (once our home is established). We hope to enlist and maintain an ongoing register of 100 members.

Donations of any amount are most welcome and can be dedicated to a particular part of the operations or housing if desired. All donations are tax deductible.

If you feel you can assist Hunter Friends of L'Arche in this or any other way, please contact us!

A group of interested people have been meeting for some time with the ultimate objective of establishing a L’Arche community within the Newcastle/Hunter area.

L’Arche Australia has approved the establishment of the Hunter Friends of L’Arche.  Incorporation was achieved in early 2006 and we have received Charitable Gift Recipient endorsement as a Benevolent Society from the Australian Taxation Office.

Our group continues to meet regularly for community evenings and other activities which also involve members from other community groups having similar interests. We would love to welcome any interested people to our meetings or events.

Our Plans

The Hunter Friends of L’Arche Board has prepared a business plan and other associated documentation to assist in promoting the establishment of our first home in the Newcastle-Hunter area.  Our vision is focused on having this operating as soon as appropriate funding is available. Our long range vision envisages a number of homes in the area.

Our Vision

Our vision is to value, encourage and celebrate the gifts and spirituality of people with and without intellectual disabilities and to establish a welcoming home that values mutually transforming relationships with the spirit of L’Arche.
