“But still our hearts yearn deeply for the personal relationship, for somebody who will understand us, love and cherish us, accept us as
we are, and see in us deeper than our limits, the meaning of our lives”

Joining a Board of Directors

Each L'Arche community has a Board of Directors which holds legal and financial responsibility for its community. In addition, L'Arche Australia has a Board with Australia-wide responsibilities.

Community board members usually meet monthly and are encouraged to join community activities when they are able. The national board meets three times per year.

Boards to comprise a variety of disciplines and interest - accountants, lawyers, teachers, health professionals, retired people and home makers are often among the membership.

If you are interested in possibly becoming a member of a board, or serving on one of the sub-committees eg finance, fund raising etc and would like to explore this with further, please contact either the National Chairperson or your local L’Arche community see the contacts page.

Joining Us in Prayer

L'Arche communities exist not just to offer shelter and support to persons with an intellectual handicap with high support needs. L'Arche wants to also be a sign of hope, a sign of unity, faithfulness and reconciliation.

L'Arche communities are communities of faith, rooted in prayer and trust in God, and they seek to be guided by spiritual values.

Each of the Australian communities invite people from outside of L'Arche to be a part of our prayer life. People are welcome to bring their own personal beliefs, and we ask for a respect of all spiritual traditions.

If you would like to join our prayer happenings, please contact any of the communities on the contacts page.
