About our Community

Foundation date: 17 March 2003.

The community includes two supported  households in the suburbs of Carina and Morningside. Community members have connections to a variety of religious and social networks across Brisbane.

NDIS Registration

L’Arche Brisbane is a registered NDIS provider. Currently we are registered to provide support in the following classes. Accommodation/Tenancy; Assist- Life Stage, Transition; Daily Tasks/Shared Living; Development – Life Skills; Group/Centre Activities-programs of support for individual learning goals; Household Tasks; Participate in Community; Personal Activities High; Support Coordination. We would like to advised that we charge at the price limit as set out in the NDIS Support Catalogue for all supports. We welcome your enquiry to see if we may be a good fit for you in any of these listed areas.

February Highlights:

  • Mr. Peter McMeekin’s Birthday Party: Join us in celebrating Mr. McMeekin’s birthday at Revel Brewing Co. Rivermakers, located at 82 Colmslie Rd, Morningside, just before the Colmslie Beach Reserve. It’s sure to be a delightful event and one you certainly will not want to miss!

March Events:

  1. Strategic Planning Workshop – March 2nd: Your input is crucial! Join us for a strategic planning workshop on March 2nd, where you can provide vital feedback and suggestions to shape our community’s strategic plan.
  2. Clean Up Australia Day – March 3rd: Be part of our environmental efforts on Clean Up Australia Day! Meet us at 16 York Street, Morningside, at 2 pm to help remove rubbish from the local area. After our efforts, we’ll enjoy a refreshing afternoon tea together.

  3. Community Anniversary – March 17th: March 17th marks our community’s Anniversary. Join us for a prayerful gathering at St. Oliver Plunkett’s Parish Hall at 2:30 pm as we round out a year of 20th Anniversary celebrations and look ahead into the community’s future.

  4. Washing of the Feet Gathering – March 27th: On March 27th, we’ll gather at Justice Place at 5 pm for the Washing of the Feet, a tradition shared in L’Arche communities across the world.

  5. Stations of the Cross Gathering – March 29th: On Good Friday, March 29th, at 10 am, we’ll have the Stations of the Cross Gathering at Morningside. Weather permitting, we’ll walk from the house to the community garden together.

Regular Activities

Our community meets at monthly gatherings and online. Members are encouraged to support each other with informal social catchups, prayer and a meal at a local Leagues Club when there is a 5th Sunday in the month.  Two day retreats are provided each year. One is a for our local community and there is an opportunity to participate in a national retreat day with other communities online. Opportunities are also provided to participate in local cultural and civic events. Online networking includes social media  with news and events. We welcome your interest and participation.
