Living or Working in a Community

Whatever your stage of life, and whatever your background and experience, L’Arche has something to offer -and so do you.

People choose to join L’Arche as a volunteer or assistant to people with intellectual disabilities from a variety of backgrounds and motivations.

Volunteers and Assistants come to L’Arche from around the world or locally around the corner, so Communities include Australians as well as people from many other countries. The key to life in L’Arche for everyone is being open to mutual relationship and friendship. Volunteers, Assistants and people with intellectual disabilities create home together in households. Days are filled with the ordinary tasks of daily living–meals, household chores, shopping–and gatherings and celebrations.

If you are interested and want to hear more, fill in the application form to tell us about yourself and what you can offer. We will direct your application to the best person to help you.

Please note: For applicants from outside Australia prior experience in a community of L’Arche is required.
